metal separators plastic pelletsMetal separators are used to detect and separate ferrous and non – ferrous metals mixed with plastic raw material.

Metals such as copper, aluminum, brass, and stainless steel will be detected and removed. Metal impurities sometimes contaminate raw material when granulation takes place and this affects production efficiency.

The advantages of using a metal separator:

  3. Improves the utilization of raw material;

  5. Reduces equipment maintenance costs.

The disadvantages of using contaminated material:

  1. Damage to the screw and barrel;
  2. Machine nozzle and the mold runner(hot runner) become blocked.
  3. Scratching of mould by metal pieces.
  4. Finished products contain metal impurities.

Vibrating feeder combination

A vibrating feeder used with a metal separator controls the feeding speed of the material into the hopper of the separator.

This allows a steady, controlled feed of material through the separator and gives a better result.

Vibrating screen metal separator

After metal separation has taken place, material can be fed through a vibrating screen classifier to remove dust. This improves cleanliness and handling equipment efficiency.

Vacuum loader combination vacuum loader & metal separator RL-50G. A Vacuum loader can be fitted to the metal separator to load materials. It reduces labour and improves efficiency. Material can be loaded directly from the granulator storage tank to the metal separator.

Screw loader combination

An auger loader & metal separator AL-80G can be used together.

Working principle

Raw material from the hopper or feeder gravity feeds through the metal separator. If any metal is detected as the material passes the sensing zone a shunt valve is activated and diverts the contaminated material through a separate chute. Only a small amount of raw material is lost when the metal is ejected. Speed and sensitivity is adjustable and metal particles as small as 0,3mm can be detected and isolated.

These are all including a frame on wheels under which a bin will be placed. It also includes a hopper with lid onto which an autoloader can be fitted to load the device automatically from a drum, bag, granulator, etc.

The hopper is Stainless steel and it has a 3 year warranty.
